30 mln euro for Eco-innovations
In April 2010, announcement of the forthcoming call for proposals under the initiative of the Eco-innovation is planned. It is a part of the Framework Programme for Competitiveness and Innovation. The initiative is addressed to those who are the authors of the products, services, management practices related to environmental aspects, especially the small and medium enterprises. The initiative emphasizes the efforts made to reconcile economic growth with environmental protection.
Although the eco-entrepreneurship is a strong side of the European Union, the industry recording the big turnover and creating jobs, it is necessary to undertake efforts to reduce emissions, amounts of wastes produced and resources exploitation. Therefore, eco-innovation initiative supports a modern "clean" production processes, new management methods, new technologies and services. Among the common features of projects under the initiative of the Eco-innovation, one can point:
- Creating environmental benefits such as reduction of emissions, waste production, more efficient use of resources,
- Stimulation of the commercialization of research results,
- A high potential for transfer and replication,
- Innovation,
- The feasibility of implementation, especially taking into account the specific needs and barriers for small and medium enterprises.
